Shopify quietly made a big move.
They’ve renamed one of their core pricing plans — and while it may seem like a small change, it signals a much bigger shift in how Shopify is positioning its platform.
The “Shopify” Plan Is Now Called Grow
If you’ve been around Shopify for a while, you’re probably familiar with the standard pricing lineup:
- Starter
- Basic
- Shopify
- Advanced
- Plus
That middle-tier — simply called “Shopify” — has now been renamed to Grow.
Why the change?
Because naming matters.
“Grow” doesn’t just describe a plan. It describes a stage.
It’s for merchants who’ve validated their store, have some traction, and are now looking to scale — whether that’s through marketing, new channels, or retention-focused tools.
What Does This Mean for Merchants?
If you’re a Shopify store owner, here’s what you should take from this update:
- Clearer guidance: The new names better align with business stages
- Better fit: Choosing the right plan feels more intuitive
- More growth features incoming: Shopify is likely to tailor this plan with tools to help mid-stage brands scale
And for agencies and partners?
It gives us a more strategic way to guide clients. It’s easier to align platform features with client needs — and less confusing when recommending plan upgrades.
