Landing Page Conversion Rate: How to Double Enquiries Without Increasing Ad Spend

Landing Page Conversion Rate: How to Double Enquiries Without Increasing Ad Spend

Ad spend stayed the same. Monthly enquiries went from 14 to 31.

The difference wasn’t the ads — it was the landing page.

Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) is one of the highest-ROI activities any business can invest in, because every improvement multiplies the return on every dollar of ad spend.

Here’s the exact framework we use.

The Real Problem With Most Landing Pages

After auditing dozens of landing pages across industries, the same issues appear repeatedly. The ads are often well-written. The problem comes after the click.

Problem 1: The Headline Introduces the Company

Visitors don’t care who you are yet. They care whether you can solve their problem.

❌ “Welcome to XYZ Digital Marketing Agency — Serving Australian businesses since 2010”

✅ “More enquiries from your Google Ads — or we’ll tell you exactly why not”

The headline should speak to the visitor’s outcome, not your identity.

Problem 2: One CTA Button, at the Bottom

More than 50% of visitors never scroll to the bottom of a page. If your only call-to-action is at the foot of the page, you’re losing over half your potential leads before they even see it.

Rule: Minimum three CTA placements — above the fold (visible without scrolling), after the value proposition section, and at the page footer.

Problem 3: No Trust Signals

First-time visitors have no reason to trust you yet. They need evidence.

High-converting trust signals:

  • Client logos (recognisable brands carry the most weight)
  • Specific numbers: “600+ Shopify stores built” not *”hundreds of stores”
  • Awards or certifications (e.g., Certified Shopify Partner)
  • Named testimonials with photos, not anonymous quotes

Problem 4: A Long Mobile Form

On mobile, asking for name, email, phone, company, budget, and project details upfront is conversion suicide. Visitors abandon.

Fix: Start with name and phone number only. Gather additional details in the follow-up call.

Problem 5: Page Load Over 3 Seconds

If the page takes more than 3 seconds to load on mobile, a significant portion of visitors will leave before seeing any content. Check pagespeed.web.dev.

Real Before & After: 1.2% to 2.8% Conversion Rate

Before:

  • Headline: Company introduction
  • CTA: Single button, page footer only
  • Trust signals: None
  • Mobile form: 6 fields
  • Page load: 4.8 seconds

After:

  • Headline: Customer outcome + specific result
  • CTA: 3 placements (top, middle, bottom)
  • Trust signals: Client logos + “600+ stores built” badge
  • Mobile form: Name + phone only
  • Page load: 1.9 seconds

Result: Monthly enquiries increased 2.3x with no change to ad spend.

The 7 Principles of a High-Converting Landing Page

  1. Headline addresses the visitor’s problem or desired outcome
  2. CTA buttons in at least 3 positions
  3. Page loads in under 3 seconds on mobile
  4. Trust signals placed above the fold
  5. Mobile form with 2–3 fields maximum
  6. Ad copy and headline message match exactly
  7. Single goal per page — one action, no distractions
